Abstract

During the last decades the issues related to the governance of agricultural cooperatives are focused of many researchers. Cooperatives are placed under continuous public pressure to solving both the social and economic problems. This requires a change in business behavior – strategy, mission, vision, values. The team has to analyze ongoing evolutionary changes in the governance to agricultural cooperatives. The analysis is based on empirical evidence – case studies of agricultural cooperatives operating in the territory of Bulgaria. We conclude that the challenges in the governance of cooperatives are directed more to the market, making them “economized”.
