Ideas for Updating Approaches to Assessment Processes of Soil Erosion in Land Evaluation According the Requirements of Maize
Keywords:
soil erosion, land evaluation, suitability for maizeAbstract
Erosionis the main degradation process of the soils in Bulgaria. The intensive agricultural usage of the eroded soils requires the development of models for evaluation of their suitability for growing different crops. One of the most widely distributed in our country is maize which occupies 11.4% of the agricultural land for 2008.
On the background of the current approach for assessment thе risk of erosion in determining the suitability of lands for growing сorn, thе report offers two new ones - by assessing the slope of thе hillside аnd root space. Both аrе offered а work with the regression equations. Thereby increasing the accuracy of the results and allows for direct entry results in geographic information systems. While targeting suspected Bulgarian land evaluation system to the recommendations of the FAO and harmonization with European practices.
