Grain yield is a complex trait influenced by a range of secondary morphological and physiological characteristics, including the efficiency of the photosynthetic process. The application of biologically derived products contributes to enhancing overall productivity and the yield potential of cultivated plants, as demonstrated in numerous studies. The aim of the present research was to evaluate the quantitative differences in plastid pigments and their effect on grain yield in maize hybrids Kneja 310 and Kneja 461, following treatment with microbial preparations from the "Microbtima" group. The results showed that, in more than half of the variants for hybrid Kn 310, an increase in chlorophyll content was recorded compared to both control groups, whereas in hybrid Kneja 461, values were generally similar to the controls. The best results were observed with treatment V11 (seed and foliar application), where the content of photosynthetic pigments exceeded that of the controls by 12.64% and 11.21%, respectively. This variant also achieved the highest grain yield (450,42 kg/da) among the 12 tested. For hybrid Kn 461, the highest grain yield (464,48 kg/da) was observed with treatment V9. The rank analysis determined the preparations V11, V13 and V9 as having the most pronounced complex positive effect on the hybrid Kneja 310; and V4 and V9 – on Kneja 461. The bio preparations V9 (Microbtima Stop) and V11 (Microbacterium phyllosphaerae), applied through seed treatment and dual foliar application during vegetation, as promising candidates for further investigation.
